Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to have common High Court

Hyderabad: Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta has issued instructions to the registry that the existing Andhra Pradesh High Court will function as the common High Court for Telangana and the residuary state of Andhra Pradesh.
Sources close to the judiciary revealed that the common high court would function as the High Court of Judicature for the state of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh at Hyderabad, from June 2 onwards. Currently, orders have been issued with the cost title for the High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad. The litigants have to file their petition from June 2 with the cost title of the High Court of Judicature for the state of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh at Hyderabad, sources added.
The AP High Court, which is on its summer vacation, will reopen on June 2, which is the Appointed Day for the new states.
Justice Sengupta arrived in Hyderabad by cutting short his vacation with a view to make arrangements for the functioning of the common HC from June 2 and also to bifurcate the subordinate judiciary prior to May 26 for both the states, sources added.
